FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Everything you need to know before booking your free trial lesson.
From what age can you take lessons at Cadenz?
Lessons are open to children aged 5 and over, teenagers and adults. For younger children, we can advise you on the right instrument and when to start.
Are beginners welcome?
Yes, including complete beginners. No prior experience or ability to read music is required.
Do you need to own your own instrument?
You need your own instrument for home lessons; some studios provide equipment. An instrument at home allows practice between lessons. Ask your teacher for advice before buying or renting.
How does the free trial lesson work?
A free 45-minute individual lesson to meet your teacher and try their approach. A parent may attend a child's first lesson. You choose a package afterwards only if you want to continue.
Are lessons individual or group lessons?
Packages include 45-minute individual lessons. Group workshops may be offered separately.
Where can lessons take place?
At your home or in the teacher's studio in Berlin, depending on the instrument, your preferences and teacher availability. The location can be reviewed later if your needs change.
Which Berlin districts do you cover?
Our teaching team covers all Berlin districts, subject to teacher availability for your chosen instrument. Any travel costs are confirmed before booking, with your agreement.
How does Cadenz choose its teachers?
We select our teachers for their musical background and teaching experience. All are professional musicians with experience teaching children.
Can you choose or change your teacher?
Share your preferences so we can recommend a teacher. If the match does not suit you, your needs change or your teacher is unavailable long-term, we help find an alternative, subject to availability.
What schedule and rhythm are possible?
Usually one lesson per week; other rhythms can be arranged. Times are agreed with your teacher, including after-school, weekend or school-holiday lessons if you wish.
How do cancellations and make-up lessons work?
With sufficient notice, you may request to reschedule, subject to teacher availability; a replacement lesson is not guaranteed. Cancellations less than 24 hours before the lesson and no-shows are charged in full, normally without rescheduling; Cadenz may exceptionally approve a replacement lesson or lesson credit. If the teacher cancels, the lesson is rescheduled or credited back.
What happens after you send the form?
We reply within 24 hours to clarify the student's level, goals, district and availability, then arrange a free trial with a suitable teacher. Once a teacher is found, the trial usually takes place within a few days.
